First-Sweitzer Endowed Scholarship
The First-Sweitzer Endowed Scholarship was established in 1986 by Dr. R. Douglas First. Dr. First and his wife, Sandra Sweitzer First, BIS ’85, are former Mason staff members. The endowment honors the memory of Dr. Robert T. Hawkes, who was a professor of history and the founding dean of the School of Continuing and Alternative Learning. Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences with a minimum GPA of 2.75.
