Zeineb Mrad Bouali Tenacity and Perseverance Award

The Zeineb Mrad Tenacity and Perseverance Award was established in 2024 by Fathi Bouali in memory of Zeineb Bouali to provide support for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences who have had to pause their educational goals or have been displaced and are returning to fulfill their dream of obtaining a degree. Preference will be given to Permanent Residents, international students, and students qualifying for support through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Recipients may be full-time or part-time students and may be in-state or out-of-state students. Applicants must answer the selection question, “Do you identify as an immigrant student who has had to take a break from schooling and is coming back to Mason after time away due to extenuating life circumstances?” and respond to the essay prompt: “Please describe how you overcame challenging life circumstances that have affected your academic journey and brought you back to Mason.” This scholarship is renewable.
