Amy Takayama Perez Memorial Student Book Award Endowment

The Amy Takayama Perez Memorial Student Book Award Endowment was established in 2024 in honor of Amy Takayama-Perez to provide scholarship support for undergraduate students for textbooks. Recipients must be full-time, in-state students and must be first generation college students. Preference will be given to graduates of the Early Identification Program (EIP). Scholarship applicants will qualify on the basis of academic merit and financial need. Applicants must submit an essay answering the following question: What does it mean to be the first in your family to attend college? This scholarship is renewable.

Amy Takayama-Perez was a higher education advocate who dedicated her career to enhancing college access. She was a proud George Mason University graduate and served as a member of the George Mason University Alumni Association Board. In addition, she spent 23 years working at her alma mater, culminating in the role of Dean of Admissions. Amy was unwavering in her dedication to education and worked every day to expand access and opportunity.
