β Who Can Apply?
- Currently enrolled students may access conditional applications that are open for the 2026-2027 aid year.
- Incoming undergraduate students may apply once they are registered for classes.
- Many scholarships require a Mason GPA and/or completed credit hours at Mason. Please review individual scholarship requirements before applying.
π How to Apply
- Complete the *General Application.
- Based on your eligibility, you may be directed to:
β Conditional Applications* and/or
β The Recommended Opportunities page. - Review each opportunity carefully and complete any additional requirements.
- Use Save and Keep Editing to save your progress and return later.
- When you are ready to submit, click Finish and Continue.
π‘ Tips for Success
- Do not include your name or G# in essay responses*. Doing so may disqualify your application due to anonymous review practices.
- Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).
- Be sure to complete:
β Application Release of Information*
β Community service, extracurricular, volunteer, and employment activities completed while attending Mason - Carefully review all application requirements before submitting.
- Submit your application before the posted deadline. Late submissions cannot be accepted.
π° Need-Based Scholarships
- To maximize consideration for need-based scholarships, submit your FAFSA by March 1 or at least two weeks before the scholarship deadline.
- Virginia students who are not eligible to file the FAFSA may still be considered for state financial aid by submitting the Virginia Alternative State Aid (VASA) Application.
π Deadlines & Notifications
- Scholarship awards are made by numerous departments, colleges, and committees across Mason.
- Due to the competitive nature of scholarship funding, only selected recipients will be notified by email or letter.
- Submission of an application does not guarantee the receipt of a scholarship award.
- Award review and selection timelines vary by department and scholarship program.
- Students are encouraged to monitor their Mason email and scholarship portal regularly for updates.
- Applying for a scholarship is a step toward potential support; while it does not guarantee an award, it is an important opportunity to be considered for financial assistance.
