George W. Johnson Endowment and Joanne Ferris Johnson Scholarship

The George W. Johnson Endowment and Joanne Ferris Johnson Scholarship was established in 1996 by the George Mason University Foundation to provide scholarship support to rising juniors or seniors who have activity in the arts as an integral part of their academic careers. Recipients must be full-time students and may be in-state or out-of-state students. Recipients will qualify on the basis of academic merit, attaining individual records of exemplary overall academic performance and showing evidence of good citizenship in the campus community. This scholarship is renewable.

George W. Johnson was a university president emeritus. At his request, the endowed fund perpetuates the Joanne Ferris Johnson Scholarship, in honor and appreciation of his wife’s efforts to unite the community in support of the development of the arts at Mason.
